help: Announce: a2pix beta 5
----------------------------------------------------------
Body:
----------------------------------------------------------
I'm posting this as emailware public beta.
This is a pretty neat program that runs on a Macintosh.
It reads HGR and DHGR files (DazzleDraw, Beagle ".aux", 816 Paint etc)
and displays them on screen. Does a fantastic job at DHGR, much much more
accurate than Bernie, and cooler looking than Gus (tho Gus does a very nice
job indeed)
It'll convert batches, you can save them to a QuickTime PICT file.
there's lots of options for palettes, choose from Bernie, Gus, my TV,
CanonDV ets.. also just green or amber (or white)..
also does aspect ratio correction, since pixels on your TV are NOT square,
with this turned on you'll get the correct proportions (ie: circles no
longer look like ovals like they do in all emulators)
Added bonus: you may have noticed that the ProDOS FST has broken under OS 9.
You can still mount and read actual floppies and disk images, but try to
write to them and you'll corrupt your disk. Well, this program lets you
read any file (<800k) and write it to a new ProDOS disk image. I used it to
get some graphics from my mac back onto a real floppy to make sure i'm
seeing them right on my Apple //c.

then scroll down to "a2pix" and click on it...
Be sure to read about the old version (2.0) to get up to speed,
then read the version history for 3.0...
runs on 68k, or PPC, carbon, or OS X (yes!)
especially need 68k testers of older machines (system 7? system 6???)
emailware. write to me if you like it, or especially if you find bugs!
