Re: Apple II Boot Problem

As I do a lot of Apple II repairs my suggestion would be, apart from chips that
have worked loose in their sockets, that one or more memory chips have failed.
If you have a copy of the Apple Dealer diagnostics disk it should be able to
tell you which ones are faulty.
A further suggestion : If you are starting up any old piece of electronic gear;
computer, hifi etc, take it off to your local TV repair shop and ask them to
start it up on their variac (variable transformer). This "reforms" the
capacitors in the power supply and other areas. Otherwise banging the voltage
straight onto something that is 10+ years old and been stored for more than 6
months will lead to this sort of problem. I have found exploded capacitors in
some machines - such has been the deterioration. Your local TV shop should have
a variac and should not charge you for this. It literally takes about 2 minutes
to do.
