With this simplified cable, I've had no issues with any of my SCART
equipment... Samsung 910MP, Aptus SCART->YUV converter, and Highway
100 SCART->VGA converter.

Steven Hirsch ran into a similar issue when he received his Hwy 100
converter and SCART cable, so we made similar modifications to get him
going.
Yes, with the Highway-branded converter connecting composite sync out to SCART pin 20 didn't look very good. Wiring as above cleaned it up a lot. Since then, I picked up a CYP branded converter from UK eBay and that one looks good with the wiring either way. It also presents an almost pure blue GS/OS desktop while the Highway unit always had a small amount of vertical striping visible. There was obviously some diddling around with internal characteristics over the lifespan of the unit. Wish I knew if it was firmware, hardware or both.
