Looking at pics of both boards, the Ramworks III has
2 fewer chips. Probably cheaper to produce. In a
competitive, but low-margin market, every chip you
can safely eliminate, every trace, every drilled hole,
every solder joint removed = $$$
Heh...I suppose the market for add-on RAM cards was
competitive there for a while. Anyone remember that
company (was it Checkmate?) that used to have at the
top of their ads: "21 meg //e! 17 Meg //c!"
(bragging about how much memory their cards could
hold, maxed out)
Wasnt there one large-capacity RAM card that used
stacks of half-sized SIMMs, only with chips on
both sides? (8 chips, 4 on each side)
