The 4mb card is the problem if you are using AppleWorks version 2 or 2.1. The
memory problem was to be fixed when moving from 2 to 2.1 but unfortunately the
only difference appears to be that 2.0 will work with no larger than one mb
of added memory while version 2.1 will work with up to two mb of added memory.
The best solution is to upgrade to at least version 3 as that will cure both
the problem of not booting with a date beyond 1999 and the hanging of the
program when having more that 2 mb of added memory.
