The IIgs uses the same monitor connector as the Mac, but the monitors are
incompatible. You need a monitor capable of operating at the scan speed of a
TV (much slower than a normal Mac or PC). There is, of course, the one that
Apple made for the IIgs which works fine, but some NEC Multisync monitors
can also scan that low. Most PC monitors won't.

You will need a card to connect either IDE or SCSI drives to it. The SCSI
cards are the most common (therefore less expensive). Apple made two which
are compatible with the GS/OS -- the Apple SCSI Card Revision C, or the
Apple High Speed SCSI Card. Revisions A or B of the original card aren't
compatible with GS/OS. There are also a number of third-party cards like the
RamFast (?).
