Re: OMG!

Dear Bev,

I'll take exception to your idea that silence on the internet means nothing is being done to effect change with piracy. It's very clear to me as a relative newcomer to usenet that the power of free speech is over excercised and talk is cheap. There's no governing body to shut down miscreants. The perpetrator finds a friendly isp and off he goes doing his thing.

Our usergroup was involved with an on the ground attempt to get a stalker
of one of our members put out of business. There was nothing that could be done by going to the police or by appealing to the isp involved. Seems the victim had to get hurt first and I suspect seriously so before real action could be taken. It's taken some school massacres to get action against on youngsters using the internet to make threats. So what do you suggest we might do. Expressing negative opinions about stealing is not effective.

I am very sorry that you were ripped off. I don't understand the thinking of the jerk who did it. You have been very generous with your time and resources to keep the the mail group running so long. You've been very clear about your expectations for participants part in it's continuation. I think it must have been someone in the newsgroup who did the deed or passed things along. For the life of me I can't understand why. If you destroy the thing you value you don't have it. It doesn't make any sens
e to me.
