You would not believe what his house looked like unless you were there.
It was almost impossible to walk in the basement. There was stuff
*everywhere*. The living room was also full. I've never seen such a thing.
Believe me when I tell you that if I got out of there with 90 computers, I
didn't get another 90. Others took some, and many got dumped. It was
unbelievable.
As I understood it from talking to his wife, he was something of an Apple
nut and simply amassed this stuff as a collector. I had originally surmised
that he did this as a business, but she said that apart from selling very
small quantities at users' groups meetings and the like, he wasn't parting
with any of it.
The son did indeed want to keep a lot of the stuff, but as they are moving
to an apartment, it isn't practical. He did get some choice bits, including
an Apple //c LCD screen (SIGH!).
I felt sorry for his wife, because she needs all this stuff *out*. She has
to get the house on the market pronto (since she doesn't live there,
apparently if she doesn't get it on the market within six months she can get
hit with capital gains tax on the sale), and all of this stuff was in her
way. It felt nice to do her a favor *and* get all the goodies at the same
time.
My wife has been *seriously* patient with me and our now-full garage. :) :)
