I used to be quite active on the International Apple Echo on Fidonet.
I still miss it but when Canada Remote Systems (aka CRS) was bought
out by an ISP and shut down, I lost my only easy and reliable access
to Fidonet.  I tried using a local BBS to access it for a while but
the busy signals I kept getting when calling most of the time just
made it too annoying and I'd only get to read or post messages once
every week or so.  :-/
