Guys I know my rambling is not clear here, but what I was looking for was
something along the line of: An MFM formated 360k floppy that contains ProDOS
files readable as such on the PCTransporter AND the Diamond Trackstar. I
figured such a disk, if possible would need to be either in MSDOS format
(therefore writeable on the Trackstar, readable on the PCT), or ProDOS
(Read/Writeable on the PCTransporter Transdrives in GS mode, but, now here is
the sticky part:) HOW to read a ProDOS formated 360K floppy Directly on the
Trackstar ie not a Trackstore "drive" written on to the 360, but an hoest 360k
ProDOS (or MSDOS with ProDOS files) formated floppy?
My theory is that this was possible back ages ago when the special board that
was included with the Trackstar was available. This board was placed between
the floppy controller and the 360k drive with an aditional wire that ran to
the 2nd set of pins by where you plug in the Apple drive on the Trackstar
board (lower left side facing).
Thanks for all the suggestions folks, I have played with MUG! and all the
other transfer methods, most work quite well once the learning curve is
surmounted. If all I wanted to do was pass files back and forth I have my
"Network from Heck" ;)
What I am after here is a deeper understanding of file transfers, how it is
done, what is possible (Did you know an HFS formated 360k 5.25 can be made via
the PCTransporter?), and what isn't possible (and don't tell me it ain't until
AFTER I have done it please!).
So what I am really saying I guess is: Has anyone else traveled down a road
like this before, and does anyone have a lead on, a pin-out of, or want to
dispose of that special little board that hooked to the Diamond Trackstar?
Rambling as usual,
-Bart
