John,
My advice would be to also get a hard drive for the //e. Either a SCSI or
internal IDE. 3.5 disk drives have their place, and I have one hooked up to
mine, but they're no replacement for a hard drive. Depending on what you want
to do with it, I'd suggest prioritizing the following:

1.	ImageWriter II Printer (It's the standard and they can be picked up for
a song these days. Writing a letter on a computer is much more fun when you
can actually print it out.)

2.	Color Composite Monitor (I remember my green monochrome days. I also
remember my stiff neck from craning to see the Apple IIe output on my color TV
via the video recorder. It was worth it, but the color monitor is so much
better.)

3.	Hard Drive (20 Megs is ok, but the 200 Meg hard drive that I use at
home is much nicer and faster than the old 20 Meg drive that I use at school.)

4. More Memory (1Meg cards are pretty easy to come across for the //e. There
are a few programs that use the extra memory, such as AppleWorks, Publish It!,
and some copying programs, and for those, it is very nice.)

5.	Mouse (You may not have many programs now that use or require it, but
you will. There's lots that you can do without it, but once it's installed,
your //e will seem naked without it--much like a hard drive or more memory.)

6.	Accelerator (Not necessary, but will you ever look at your //e in a
different light!)
