goodwill store brag
While I was at work yesterday, my wife called me from her cell phone.
She was at the local goodwill store. She said "Dennis, they have a
bunch of Atari 2600 games here. They look like they are in really good
shape, would you like me to read the titles to you?" First, wow: My
wife loves me so much she pays attention to my hobbies and tries to help
me. Second, wow: near perfect condition atari carts. We ended up
getting over 20 of them (and left 22 behind). That night we went
through VGR's rarity list and we discovered that we picked up 3 ER
(extremely rare) carts. I don't remember all the names, but one was
Imagic's Fire Fighter, and another was Kanomi's Pooyan (pig game?). All
carts were $1.00/unit.
Then, to make things even better, she walked over to the computer
isle. "Hey Dennis, they have an Apple Monitor here." I asked her for
details. Turns out that it is an Apple RGB monitor, with video cable,
for a IIgs! For $6.99! (These go for ~$25 on ebay + $25 shipping). So
we picked that up as well. So, when we got home that night I hooked up
the RGB monitor and my composite video monitor to my IIgs and booted
into GS/OS. You (apple) guys were right, it makes a HUGE difference!
She is going back today to see if any more of the Apple system shows
up. It seems odd to me that someone would drop of the RGB monitor at
goodwill and not the rest of the system, so I think more pieces might
show up in the near future.
