     The "Red Book" Apple II manual seems to be fairly rare. It is this
supposed rareness and the fact that some persons want to own the manual which
account for the Red Book's market value.

     Agree that $40 is a long way from upper end rare book pricing. On the
other hand, most old computer manuals are considered to be worthless. 

     For various reasons-- rarity, curiosity, nostalgia, ...-- the Red Book is
an 'Interesting Item'.
