<good points about modems removed>

	There is also an interesting effect having to do with cables. On my GS
I was given a *standard* Mac modem cable. At the time I was running a
14.4 modem. It would not do anything above 2400baud. The problem was
fixed by purchasing a hardware handshaking modem cable (all relevant
pins are connected in this version). After that there was no problem.
