As far as I know, BMP is also a lossless graphic format.  However, I
wouldn't bother with GIF anymore.  Since Unisys started charging
people to use LZW compression because they own the patent, some
software no longer supports that format.

GIF has been replaced with a new lossless graphics format that can
support more colours and I believe also supports animation.  It is
called PNG.
