     First, make sure the file arrives with the proper name. Many Asimov files
have double extensions (e.g. they end with ".dsk.gz").  Windows and assorted
applications do not like this format, with the result that one extension often
gets lopped off. WinZIP may not accept a gzip file for uncompressing if it's
name does not end with ".gz". If necessary, fix the file names of downloads.


     Otherwise, the problem is likely to be that you are getting Text mode
corruption. A good way to avoid this is to use an ftp program (e.g. Cute FTP or
WS_FTP) to download from Ground (and other ftp sites).

     If you want to use Netscape and notice that downloads from some sites are
routinely messed up, then, get UnCook and use it to uncorrupt the downloaded
files fairly soon after downloading. For more about this and a link for
