Check out the Apple II Oasis for Windows emulator package.  It comes
with a program called the "Apple II Disk Server".  It is a PC program
and a ProDOS driver to allow a PC to act as a file server.  It uses a
connection between the IIgs' joystick port and the PC's parallel port.

This type of idea might get a performance benefit if someone were to
redo it using the serial port instead of the joystick port.
