- drive 2 doesn't boot

It does on a 255 IIc; this function was removed with the second rom version (ROM0) to make room for the never functioning AppleTalk. PR#7 booted Drive 2 on the 255. A friend had a 255 IIc with a bad built-in drive and he booted constantly off drive 2 for years.

   My tips would be:

1. Use CATALOG in ProDOS to get a more complete catalog listing of the disk; CAT only gives you a partial listing.

2. Use the - (hyphen) key to run programs in ProDOS; for example '-startup'.

3. On a IIc (anyway), using the ESC key while editing BASIC programs allows you to move the cursor all over the screen without entering the data you're moving over. This is great when you need to enter a long sequence over and over again without having to retype it - just ESC to the beginning of the old line, press ESC again, read in the line you want duplicated and then press RETURN. Make sure you give the rescanned line a new line number to separate it from the old line.

4. Utilities are your friend. It's absolutely amazing the amount of great utilities for the II: GSCII+, GShk, BinSCII, PMPUnZip, SlotScan, G.U.P.P., DiskMaker, Asimov, ADT, Locksmith, Davex, ProSel, CopyIIPlus, just to name a few.
