Hey, you can!  Interesting!  I wasn't aware of that change ('cause I'd
never tried it...I seldom ever used Esc-4 and Esc-8 on the ][e). 
Something else they did...on the IIgs you can 'disable' the 80-column
firmware with a PR#0, something which is very messy on a ][e.
