Do I need to "poke" any values into zero page, such as the screen width
of $50h?

I will research my softswitches soon and try some stuff. I wonder if
the emulators, like applewin and xgs32 honor double low res. Scratch
that. I just verified that Applewin does not do 80x40+80x4. It does
40x40+80x4 (mixed mode, 80 column text, lowres graphics). Bummer. XGS
doesn't appear to support lowres graphics. My version does highres but
not lowres... (I have XGS v 1.6).

Do any of the older machines NOT support double low res? Is it safe to
assume that ALL Apple II's with 128K ram have double low res capability?

obComplaint:
Why does prodos have to load $SYS programs into the highres memory
area? That sucks. I want to write a program as a prodos-8 native .SYS
program AND use highres graphics. Writing a relocated is not easy right
now, esp. since I use the CC65 cross compiler... For now, I'll just
stick to .BIN files that load at either 800h or 4000h. Argh!
