True -- however there were patches to Apple DOS 3.3 which made it
some 5-6 times faster for reading large amounts of data, e.g. while
loading a program.  One such patch, with source code, appeared in the
Apple Assembly Line newsletter.  That source code, among all other
AAL source code, is available for download from:

That's pretty slow -- some 3 times slower than the AAL DOS 3.3
patch.

I'm positive a speedup of a factor much larger than two is required
for such a dramatic subjective difference....
