This is a well known problem, and it is caused by having the SCSI card
and the hard drive set to the same SCSI ID. You end up with seven
identical copies of the hard drive as far as the computer is concerned,
because it thinks the drive is responding to every other SCSI ID.

The normal configuration is to have the SCSI card set to ID 7 (switches
2, 3 and 4 in the DOWN position) and the hard drive set to any lower
number that is convenient, but usually 6 to allow it to boot as fast as
possible.

If your drive's ID selector is stuck at 7 (or the ID has been fixed at 7
using jumpers on the mechanism) then you will have to set the SCSI
card's ID to a lower number.
