For a detailed description of how the classic Imagewriter I was set up with

If the correct serial communication parameters are used, ASCII text-only
printing
with these old printers will almost always work no matter whether the
printer was originally intended to be used with a PC or a Mac. The problems
begin when you attempt to use their "extended character sets" or when you
attempt to use their graphics modes, for which there was no standard other
than
that set by the most "popular" printer models of the era.
