I think the Apple Personal Modem used a mini-din 8, but the Apple 300 
and 1200 used the DB-9 (or DE-9 for those that prefer the more obscure 
format name that most of us could never remember :-) ).

I used to have an Apple 1200 long, long ago.  I'm not certain on the
Apple Personal Modem (which to me is the one that hung off of the power 
block when you plugged it in...used the mini-din 8...it's been much too 
long since I've seen one.)
