Re: laser 128 keyboard problems
Ok, if I had the keyboard in question, I would do the following.
1. Disassemble the Laser 128 and remove the keyboard
2. shake the staples and paperclips out of the keyboard
look for and remove any foreign objects from the keyboard
remove the key caps if you need to inspect it closer
3. look for obvious signs of corrosion or spilled orange juice, etc
Clean as neessary using alcohol, water and Q-tips
If this is membrane keyboard and something has corroded, replace the
keyboard, chance of actual repair happening is slim on the membrane type
4. examine the connector cable and see if it's seated, pinched or what
If you find damaged parts, replace as necessary
5. make sure the keyboard is dry before you assemble the Laser making
sure to NOT pinch the keyboard cable. Make sure the cables is properly
alligned and fully seated at both ends.
6. If you still got problems, try replacing the keyboard. While you
have the Laser open, shake the main computer out too and see if there's
anything floating around inside it. Remove anything that isn't nailed
down.
Thankx,
Ed
