We have 110, 220, 240 (three-phase), 208, 480 (three phase), 288, and
probably a number of others. No danger as a result, because they use
_VERY_ different plugs. Nearly all residential outlets will be 110,
with 220 reserved for a dryer and perhaps the oven, and also the HVAC
(usually direct-wired rather than plugged in). 288 is used for
commercial lighting (cheaper ballasts for fluoresents), 480 is used
for some commercial motors.
