Need IIgs Help
Hello,
Recently, my dad threw out his Apple IIgs and I saved it from the dump.
I've taken it on as a hobbie system and fallen in love with tinkering. I
need some advice on 3 points, and since I live in the Tidewater virginia
area and the Tidewater Appleworms Apple II user group has long disbanded I
can't find any local suppot:
1. The system setings in the control panel continue to reset on power down.
I suspect this is due to a dead battery somwhere in the system but I can't
isolate it. Where can I find advice on fixing this?
2. I acquired a modem for the system and have it hooked up and tested it,
but I don't have communications software for the system. I can't download
programs off the internet to my PC and get them on to my IIgs (at least, I
don't know a hack that can do that) So, where can I get a program like
Proterm on a Prodos disk?
3. I've got a couple simple manuals which came with the system, they talk
about how to set things in the control panel: and I know disks with a prodos
system file and basic launcher are bootable (and I launch things from the
Finder) but, where can I find a list of comand prompts to use while in the
basic environment. All I know is 'cat' is like 'dir *.*' in DOS and 'bye'
throws control back to the finder if you've launched the basic environment
from there.
Is there a FAQ somewhere which could guide me?
Thank you.
