It's been years since I fooled with a IIe card so this is from memory:

Question #32767: Can the IIe card continue to run in the background
while I use my Mac to do something else?

A: Yes! If you run a program which can run solely in memory without
needing to use the display, making a sound, or accessing a disk
drive, it will continue to run quite happily in the background.
There aren't too many uses for this, but you could for example
generate a hires mandelbrot by switching to text mode with
POKE -16303,0 and continuing to draw on the "hidden" hires screen.

Question #32768: Can I use the custom beep of the IIe Card in my
                 programs?

A: Yes. If you look in the monitor ROM of the IIe card for the beep
handler, you'll see some weird undefined assembly code in there
that the built-in assember can't interpret. If you put this code
in a small subroutine of your own, the LC card with make the new
digitized beep when you call the subroutine.
