You do lose significant resolution over a 35mm. For a lot of people
this may not be a practical factor. (We sometimes need to do
enlargements, so we use 35mm for some stuff. Actually, we still use
4x5 for some stuff.)

There's been talk that they've got high-density CMOS versions coming
that may (affordably) narrow this gap.

However, I think we're getting away from the Apple II connection. :)
