That shouldn't be necessary, and could cause problems with filenames
that don't fit the 8.3 format, and with file system metadata.

GS/OS supports CDs using Apple Partition Map with HFS volumes: the
System 6 developer CD was an example of this.

The file system does have to be HFS (Mac OS Standard), not HFS+ (Mac OS
Extended).

I don't have access to an external SCSI CD-ROM drive I can use on my
IIgs or I'd offer to do some quick tests. It may be that you need to use
an older version of Toast for some reason.
