Re connecting the Centris to a network and the internet:
- first, decide whether you are going to "share" your internet connection
among several machines at once (this will require you install either a
router or "internet sharing software" on your PC) OR if you are going to
allow only one machine to connect to the internet (via Comcast) at a time.
- if your Centris has an "AAUI" port, you will need to buy a transceiver to
connect this port to whatever type of ethernet cabling you are using. If it
does not (and I believe not all models have such a connection) there are
"workarounds" but you will need to research the possibilities.
- since you have System 7.6, you do not need to buy or install additional
software to set up internet access on your Mac. Go into the TCP/IP control
panel and set it to connect via the Centris internal ethernet port. You will
also need to specify a TCP/IP address (and possibly other settings) OR
configure it to use DHCP. The details are dependent on how you have decided
to implement an internet connection to your LAN ("shared" setup vs direct
connection via your LAN and modem to Comcast).
