You could take David's info and set the DIP switch that needs to be
changeable to OFF. Then, add a couple leads across that switch's terminals
going to a small toggle switch mounted on the back.
If you are using a IIgs or IIc+ or other Apple II which can access 3.5"
drives or a hard disk or (on a IIgs) a large RAM disk, you could start using
ZLink or some other telecom utility to handle all transfers (including disk
image files); and, use DSK2FILE or (IIgs-only) ASIMOV to convert disk image
files to diskette.
Still another option for users with just 5.25" drives is to go to a
288-block ProDOS for disk image transfers. Practically any Apple II 5.25"
drive can employ 288-block ProDOS to allow using a standard telecom utility
to transfer 5.25" disk image files to 288-block 5.25" diskettes. Once
transferred, they can be converted to diskette via DSK2FILE. To download
288-block ProDOS (ProDOS288blocks) with directions, go to TikTok at
http://abandonwarering.com/tiktok/ and click on "Utilities".
