Only slightly more complicated than adding any other type of disk
controller card. The hard part is finding the best slot.

Not really - you need to partition and/or initialize it on the IIgs to
be certain of having it work properly.

You might be able to partition a drive on an older Mac, but only if it
can create ProDOS partitions (and arrange for the first partition to be
ProDOS). You might be able to get away with creating HFS partitions
just under 32 MB, then changing the file system when the drive is moved
to the IIgs, but only if you are using GS/OS.

Any recent Mac (or recent system software on an older Mac) likes to put
newer types of device driver partitions on the disk, and you end up with
a partition that the Apple II doesn't know about - it causes Finder to
complain at startup, and asks you to initialize or eject it.
