The only difference between double density and quad density is that quad
density was an 80-track format (vs. 40-track for double density). I
archived software for my BBS on double-density disks formatted in a
high-density drive to quad density (5.25" HD drives also use 80 tracks).
720K on a disk that cost 10 cents at Computer City was the cheapest storage,
on a per-megabyte basis, that you could get at the time.
They ought to work just fine in Apple IIs if you reformat them.
