Re: Losing our Cyber History?-- Anyone have the Csa2 charter?

Too bad. However, Dejanews hasn't worked well for a long time. Starting
about a year ago, it began to routinely mess up on searches, especially for
anything before 1999. Finally, several months ago, they posted the
"temporary" pre-May 1999 limit message.

I guess that it is not impossible that a for-pay USENET archive could
succeed; but, at least for now, a free site paid for with banner ads still
looks like a better bet. Another possibility is a free archive based at a
major university.

Regarding our cyber history, I wonder ... does anyone have a copy of the
original Csa2 charter?

We began as the "apple" newsgroup-- "comp.sys.apple", I think-- and went
through a name change to "comp.sys.apple2" near the beginning of the last
decade. The name change seems to have screwed up access to Csa2-main charter
information. (Charters for other groups in the Csa2 hierarchy are available.)

The charters and brief histories of our newsgroups would make a good
addition to the FAQs History file.
