It was downloaded and checked via Nulib and appears to be okay-- i.e. Nulib has
no difficulty listing the contents.


     Most likely, the reason you got a bad download is that you contacted
Ground via http/ and downloaded the file via a Right-click select and save. 
     For most net servers, Apple II filetype designations like ".shk", ".sdk",
and ".dsk" are non-standard and the files are not known to have a binary MIME
type. This can result in the file being treated as Text; and, you end up with a
file on your hard disk corrupted by the addition of line ender bytes. 

     The best way to avoid this sort of corruption is to make an ftp/
connection (if this option is available).  In the case of IIgstour.shk from
Ground, try doing the download from ...

ftp://ground.ecn.uiowa.edu/apple2/apple16/Misc/ .


     Many sites allow only an http/ connection. These sites will often offer
Apple II files inside .zip files to avoid Text mode corruption. Changing the
names of Apple II files offered to something like "IIgstour_shk.bin" is another
way to assure a binary mode transfer.

     From the user end, a way to deal with a corrupted .shk, .dsk, etc.
download from an http/ site is to use a utility named "Uncook" on the file
fairly soon after the download. To get Uncook and info on using it, click on
"Download Help" at ...
