That would only be possible if the drive was a SuperDrive, and was
connected to a SuperDrive controller.  In this case you could trick the
drive by covering the extra hole with an opaque label.

The Apple 3.5 Drive doesn't even detect the high density indicator hole
in the disk.

I'm not sure what would happen if you had a SuperDrive connected to the
IIgs disk port.  The disk controller doesn't know about high density,
but the drive might do something special.
