The roms generally hold firmware routines and depend on which set you
have and which system they are in. Apple inc produced several versions.

Often you can access the roms with either Applesoft or Integer basic
since the interpreters run from there. You can look around and find
a list of the useful subroutines for assembly or machine language
programming.

One other thought. Some early II systems had custom roms which may have
contained things like the old Dos 3 FID program. For a while it was a
very common practice for many of the II hackers to burn their own or at
least make the data copy to have burned on it.
