Franklin 1000 / 1200 question

Is the 1000 older than the 1200, or were they released at the same time. My
1200 has a 1000 motherboard, and the systems look the same except the 1200
has the two floppy drives built into the cover. I was just wondering if the
1200 was released as an entirely different model (like the II + and IIe) or
was it just a 1000 with the floppy drives?
