I pulled some of my network apart and was able to transfer files to and from
   GS    <--Locattalk-->      Gatorbox    <--Ethernet 10-BaseT-->    Macintosh
substituting a LINUX box for the Mac should work too.

I've had no real experience using a Shiva Fastpath router, but both those and
Gatorboxes often show up on eBay.
(The only easy way to configure most of these "obsolete" routers is with a Mac)
