printer options, imagewriter II or?

I am looking, sort of, at inexpensive printer options for a IIgs.
It looks like an ImageWriter II is a safe choice.
Does this printer connect via a straight through mini-din8 to mini-din8
cable? Does it have 'native' drivers in GSOS 6.01? does it work from pure
ProDos (or is some sort of driver required)?
On ebay I see people passing on $9.95 ImageWriter II printers, so I take it
they aren't worth much on the street, right?
I'd like to hear your comments or opinions on this.
I just want something to print out a little text, or a listing mostly.
