Something I've always wondered about. In the manual that came with my
Apple IIGS there were pictures of various "example" applications
featuring the Mac-like interface. The disk "Your Tour of the Apple
IIGS" also showcased such things. Yet no such applications were
included with the computer, and I never saw those apps in the stores.
What programs were used to make them, or were they made up in the
hopes that somebody would imitate them? I wouldn't get anything like
what was shown until many years later (around '92 when I got my IIGS
in '88) when I was given a second-hand copy of AppleWorks GS. Until
then I had AppleWorks 2.1 for the Apple IIe (upgraded to 3.0 shortly
after it came out for the spellcheck and to open 3.0-only documents).
So, did anyone ever come up with a list of actual programs for the
"example word processor", etc shown in the manuals?
