Why? I have been running Apple hardware for ~2.75 years because
that "ubiquitous platform" was so reliable that my PC was dying
component by component. Part of that time was on an Apple //e
(only) which, while fun, represented a great deal of work (to make
it useful for the '90s).
If the new Macs are made as well as the old Apple II's and early
Macs, then paying a little extra for a solid machine is not an
issue.
