"ResEditing" is an awfully vague description, which says nothing about
file types/creators nor what you could have tried changing these to.  So
stop grumbling about the help!

Have you tried using "Apple File Exchange".  It comes bundled with System
6.0.8, but seems to work fine with (some?) later versions of the system
software.  I can not really speak for its behavior though, since my GS is
temporarily in storage.
