More A2 and Linux utilities info

First, this info is only useful to Linux PC users who need to manipulate
Apple II disk images and files. And yes, it makes reference to MS Windows
too.

Fooling with disk images and files has always been a bit of a pain. Linux
and Kegs helps by using the HFS filesystem but for some things this can
be inconvenient. Ever wish you had access to the useful utilities in the
Apple Oasis package without dual booting or using VmWare? Well now you do.
A little company called Trelos has released a neat little package called
Win4Lin which lets you run a Windows shell in X. It doesn't have all the
bells and whistles of the real thing (for which I'm grateful.) What it
will do is let you run many MS apps, including the Oasis package and you
can configure direct access to your disk partitions or create symlinks as
needed.

I have found this method to be very useful. I can now use the Disk Manager
program in Oasis and copy/move all those files I have in my archive to a
floppy or hard disk image. This is much easier for those times when I need
a file on my real GS and I haven't got a copy on my CD archives yet. At
this point, it happens quite often since I'm just getting started with
this archiving project and free time is very hard to come by.

It has a current list price of $39.95 with a free upgrade to version 2.
Yeah I know, Linux software should be GPL, but what are you going to do?
I have found this to be a very useful tool and now I can access the best
8 bit emulator alongside Kegs and enjoy the best of both. Since I spend
a lot of time programming and much of that is used in researching info,
this has become very useful to me. If you are interested, check it out.
Even though it's still in the early stages of development, it's quite
useful and lots faster than the alternatives. I can load Win98se and
access Oasis in a couple of minutes. When I decide to leave it open, I
haven't noticed a decrease in Linux/X unless the Oasis emulator is set to
execute in the background. Even then, it's not too bad.
