I'll try and turn off extensions tonight and see if that fixes
anything.  I'm still guessing it's the broken pin, but it appears that
Reactive Micro has closed down their store so I can't order a new
cable.  I don't see a way to fix mine easily as the pin is snapped
clean off unless I replace the whole connector and that's beyond my
skills.

Anyone out there do fixes on Transwarps?
