On the flip side ...
I bought some random pci TV tuner card, generic as all chipset. Using
"tv expert" under windows it functioned like a crap tv, but using tv
time in linux (mint/ubuntu/debian) I was able to tweak it with some
minor menu fiddling, and get it to a near perfect hgr display...
though it gets stuck switching between text and colour and you have to
restart the application eventually, its worth it since it was free
after rebates.
