Mac computers with system 7.1 or later can read and write
ProDos and MSDos diskettes. But unless they are text files
you will have another problem converting them so a Windows
program can use them.
If you want to transfer your Applesoft programs, these are
tokenized so need to be LISTed to get text files (and these
still need to be edited to fix some differences between
applesoft and PC BASIC's).
A nice way I used to use, if you have any kind of serial connection,
is to use Kermit (now hyperterm, I guess) running on the PC as a
terminal for the Apple (in DOS 3.3 you could set character input and
output to go to whatever device you like). Tell the PC terminal emulator
to capture the session to a file, type LIST, and you have an ascii
version of your basic program on the PC disk.
For text files, since there is no TYPE or CAT command, I used a BASIC
program to read the files and print them to the serial device, with
Kermit on the XT waiting to capture them to file.
(or sometimes I used COPY COM1: FILENAME.TXT from the DOS prompt,
and had the Apple send a ^Z at the end of the file.)
Serial cards can be had from EBay for a few bucks over the cost of
shipping, or you can make a serial device on the game port with about
$2.00 worth of transistors and resistors (which is what I used).
Good luck,
Ed
