Just as a guess, the board over the power supply produces ASCII output from
the Laser 128 keyboard, probably with lowercase as well as uppercase.  I'm
guessing it also routes the Open-Apple and Solid-Apple keys to the joystick
port (so they work as in a IIe or later machine).  What the DB-9 connector
hanging off the joystick port is supposed to be, I don't know...it could be
wired the same way as a IIe/IIc/IIGS joystick port, but you'd need a
gender-bender to plug one in.
