I recently added a HS SCSI card to my IIe, with a 40meg external HD. I'm
happy with my setup but a lot of people here also recommend using a FOCUS
HD, which is an internal hard card. The biggest problem it sounds like
you'll run into is the money part. Ebay seems to always have an A2 SCSI card
for sale but the prices for the card alone usually get up to and a times
well over a hundred dollars. External HDs are cheap and easy to find though.
I'm not sure what FOCUS drives cost but I think that they're around a
hundred bucks or so.

The other tricky part (at least for me) was finding the HD setup software
but there are others here that should be able to help you with that.

As far as I know, you can't use DOS 3.3 on a hard drive because it won't
support large partitions but ProDos works well on smaller partitions -I
think that 32 megs is the partition limit.

There are other folks in this group who can help you with the specifics
better than I can but I can tell you that having a HD on my IIe is a very
nice luxury.
